As a sophomore last year, I spent the majority of the season starting on varsity at Horizon, which is traditionally one of the most competitive programs in the state of Arizona. My biggest attribute is that I have the ability to play multiple positions at a high-level. I started multiple games on Varsity at 2B, 3B, SS, OF and RHP. I realize with the new reduction in college roster sizes that programs could benefit from players who bring the ability to play multiple positions; providing flexibility and multiple options to the program. I come from a tremendous family with a big sports background, as my grandfather (Dick Tomey) was the head football coach at several different D1 schools, including the University of Arizona where he is the still the all-time winningest coach. My Dad Rich Tomey was a standout high school baseball player in Tucson, AZ and played in college at Pima community college and the university of Arizona under Coach Kindall (which I know you are familiar with). My sister was a highly recruited swimmer in the 2024 class and now attends the University of Utah on a swim scholarship. My mother was a tremendous HS athlete and swim coach as well. I’m a big believer that school comes first as my GPA sits around 3.8 after my sophomore year. Also, I am a very hard worker with the understanding that the more you put into anything the more you get out of it. Sports teaches us the greatest lessons in life and the opportunity to play sports at any level is a gift and a privilege. The way we represent ourselves off the field is just as important as what we do on the field.
